Anatopsis is his first published juvenile fiction. It's a fantasy with a strong female protagonist, popular with 4th and 5th graders who are strong readers- mostly girls. Sort of Tamora Pierce Light (and funny).
Melissa Glenn Haber
Her 3 books are The Adventures of Hercules Amsterdam, Beyond the Dragon Portal and the Pluto Project. The first has been popular with strong young readers (grades 3 and 4) and as a read aloud. The Pluto Project has promise as a relatively easy YA mystery. She has a great presence and the kids loved her.
Gareth Hinds
I only had his adaptation of Beowulf, because his books thus far have been self published and hard to get. It had the most universal appeal of any book in the library, attracting regular attention from 4th-8th Graders. He used a full text translation (no cheesy adaptation here!) for Beowulf and the picture did all the work His next project is King Lear, due at the end of 2007 from Candlewick.
